The writer and cultural historian Gustav Freytag lived in Gotha’s Siebleben district today for many years and wrote many of his most important works there. The City of Gotha and the Freunde der Heimatgeschichte Siebleben e. V. association created a memorial for the writer in the former garden pavilion on the almost one hectare
sized plot.

Besides an exhibition on Gustav Freytag’s life and works, a replica living room and study is also displayed.
