On the way from the train station to the city centre, the road divides the grand Baroque ensemble of the Friedrichsthal Palace and the orangery garden. The rooms in Duke Frederick II’s summer residence house the “Staatliche Fachschule für Bau, Wirtschaft und Verkehr” college today.

However the orangery opposite is open all year round and seduces its visitors with the fragrance of citrus plants and creatively designed Baroque style flower beds.

The Orangerie-Freunde Gotha e.V. association organises markets and concerts in this gem of garden design to forge ahead with repairs to the orangery building.
