Das über 700 Jahre alte Kloster mit dazugehöriger Kirche zählt als das Erste in Thüringen und beherbergt die Grabplatte von Gothas Reformator.
Schloss Friedenstein - Ausflug in den Barock
Eine der schönsten Sehenswürdigkeiten ragt über die Alstadt Gothas - das Schloss Friedenstein. Von 1643 bis 1656 erbaut, zählt es heute zu den bedeutendsten Schlossanlagen in Thüringen. Neben dem Schlossmuseum mit Kunstkammer behebergt die Schlossanlage auch das Museum der Natur, das das Schlossmuseum, das barocke Ekhof-Theater und die Schlosskirche. Mit dem Besuch des Schloss Friedenstein hat man gleich mehrere Ausflugsziele Gothas an einem Ort.
